Arcturus is the brightest star in the constellation of Boötes and the fourth brightest star in the night sky. It is a giant star located approximately 36.7 light years from Earth and is known for its distinctive orange-red color. Arcturus is easily visible in the northern hemisphere during the months of April to September. It is a relatively older star, estimated to be around 7.1 billion years old, and is approaching the end of its life cycle. In ancient Greek mythology, Arcturus was often associated with the mythical hunter, Arcas, and his mother, Callisto.
